Small Hike Bukit Cemara

Small Hike Bukit Cemara

The Bukit Cemara hike is part of Stage 20 of the Great Bali Trail, offering a unique trekking experience through some of Bali’s most untouched highland landscapes. The journey descends nearly 1,000 meters, starting from the lava ravines of Mount Agung, crossing the wild ridges of the Sebudi Community Forest, and passing through lush plantations of arabica coffee and Sibetan’s renowned sweet salak fruit before reaching the rice fields below.

The highlight of this stage is reaching the summit of Bukit Cemara, a distinctive hilltop viewpoint overlooking Mount Agung, the route you have traversed, and the sweeping panorama of Southeast Bali. With towering pine trees and fresh mountain air, this is the perfect spot to pause, take in the scenery, and capture unforgettable photographs.

What makes this trail special is its strong connection to local conservation and community. By hiking here, you directly support the forest rangers of Sebudi Village, who protect and manage the community forest. Each trekker contributes IDR 200,000 through the GBT Trail Pass, which is allocated as an “ecosystem service payment” to sustain this important conservation effort. This small hike is ideal for intermediate hikers and trail runners seeking a more remote and wild adventure, especially for those traveling towards Amed, Candidasa, or Sidemen.
